The launch of Kimberly-Clark’s new diaper recycling trial in Australia was the most-viewed news story for the month of December on Nonwovens-Industry.com. The first trial of its kind in Australia, The Nappy Loop has been underway in South Australia since July 2022 and uses anaerobic digestion to turn the organic materials in used Huggies nappies into nutrient-rich compost, as well as bioenergy that is captured and used to power the recycling process.

In other news, Avgol announced it will add a state-of-the-art, high speed Reicofil 5 line at its Mocksville, NC facility. It will be the company’s sixth line at the site, which was first acquired in 2001. The investment will deliver biocomponent and corresponding high-loft capabilities, with the line producing materials for applications that meet the needs of upper tier products for hygiene customers. As part of the investment, Avgol, which is part of Indorama Ventures, is also introducing extra capacity for meltblown production, ensuring a continuous supply of this critical material for both the region and customers worldwide.
